ACT faculty member, Dr. Christos Aliprantis, secures funding for his postdoctoral research
ACT adj. professor Christos Aliprantis (Division of Humanities and Social Sciences) has been awarded funding from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Tsagadas Trust) to become the principal investigator in a research group for 2023-2024.
The group's focus shall be the social history of the Greek security forces (cities' police; gendarmerie; Greek police) between 1944 and 1990, and it will be hosted by the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the University of Athens.
Moreover, Aliprantis also earned an individual research fellowship from New Europe College, an institute for advanced study in Bucharest, Romania, between March and July 2024 to investigate comparatively the Romanian police forces in the Communist era (1947-1989). His longer-term research aim is a broader project on policing and state coercion in the twentieth-century Balkans and the Mediterranean.
