Saying goodbye to our Fall Study Abroaders
A warm farewell to the Fall 2015 study abroad cohort! This was truly an exceptional Fall semester with a record number of 300 U.S. students taking classes at ACT from mid-September through December. Students came from a large number of partner schools in the U.S. to attend challenging academic classes and also get to know the region and its people.
Of these students 245 came through the Northeastern Freshman Abroad Program (N.U.in) and participated in classes that are non-traditional for study abroad participants, such as Engineering, Nursing and Pre-Med. All of them had a hard time saying goodbye to their new friends, the Thessaloniki boardwalk, the beaches and great restaurants they enjoyed.
This group as a whole spent over 4.900 hours in volunteer service at humanitarian non-governmental institutions in our community. The Mayor of the City handed each one a Youth Ambassador Award on their last day here, asking them to represent our city back at their home institution. They are certainly ready for such a task and we will remember them fondly for their vigor, enthusiasm and generosity.
