Policy Areas
The Policy Lab was established to fulfill the original function of the Dukakis Center, to provide a forum in which to examine public policy issues of special interest to ACT’s various constituencies. These include, among others, international education, governance, and information technology.
The Policy Lab is a conduit for research into public policy in Greece, the EU, and the US. Currently the Center is working on two long-term research and outreach projects, on “Democratic Futures” and “Public Service in the 21st Century.”
Dukakis Center staff provide occasional commentary on Greek television and radio, and in select Greek print media. The Center has maintained a blog on contemporary citizenship, Politis, and currently produces a weekly video podcast on current affairs.
The Dukakis Center also maintains a keen interest in entrepreneurship at the local and national levels, in business, civil society, and the public sector. The Center hosts the Business and Politics Forum every other year, bringing together leading practitioners from the private and public sectors to examine a topic of interest to the business and policy communities of Northern Greece.
The Dukakis Center offers specialized training in report writing and research skills, in collaboration with ACT's Office of Career Services. The Center hosts a customizable seminar series in critical thinking for business and non-profit clients, and a certificate program for think tank and civil society professionals. Among consulting services available are reporting on current US politics and select geopolitical analysis.
NB Activities in these series have been suspended temporarily owing to the outbreak of COVID-19 in Greece and elsewhere in the region.
