About the Program
The Business English program comprises ten different units on the most current trends in the business world. Each unit is covered in a 3-hour session and the course material used has been adapted from the “Market Leader” New edition book series.

Program Outline
Session 1
Cross-cultural communication: Cultural awareness-doing business across cultures, language of advice, obligation and necessity
Session 2
Written and Spoken forms of communication: Communication problems, dealing with breakdowns in communication, internal communication in organizations, writing a memo
Session 3
Ethics at work: Business ethics, what unethical activities are, taking action when spotting unethical behaviors/decisions, narrative tenses, writing an email
Session 4
Successful advertising: Authentic advertisements, good and bad advertising practices, words and expressions for talking about advertising, creating and presenting an advertising campaign
Session 5
Customer service: Telephoning customers and getting the right information, handling customer complaints, prioritizing and dealing with complaints, writing a report
Session 6
Building relationships in businesses: Words to describe business relationships, networking, promoting customer loyalty, writing a proposal
Session 7
Innovation in the 20th century: In-company innovation, words to describe innovations, presentation techniques
Session 8
Presentation of a product- Preparing and giving effective presentations
Session 9
E-COMMERCE: The use of the internet, success online, selling & buying things online, writing a sales letter
Session 10
Using ChatGPT in Business Communication- transforming business conversations with AI, understanding limitations and biases, crafting effective prompts
Application Process
Upon completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate from the Lifelong Learning Center of ACT.
After sending the application form, a representative of ACT's Lifelong Learning Center will contact you for your registration and payment process.

Meet the Lecturer
Sophia Nikopoulou is an accomplished EFL/ESL/EAP teacher with over three decades of experience. During her career she has taught students of all ages from young learners to university students and adults seeking to improve their language skills at an academic and/or professional level. Ms Nikopoulou holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature, a Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership, a Master’s in Arts and Humanities and she is also certified as a Business English teacher from the International House of London. Committed to lifelong learning, Ms Nikopoulou continually seeks professional development opportunities to stay current with the latest educational trends and technologies. She currently teaches Academic English courses at ACT.
